LAHORE: The Punjab government decided to launch a Rs. 39 billion Solar Power Plant projects across the province.
The Punjab Energy Department and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore officials gave a proposal to the government regarding installing Solar Power Plants at disposal stations.
In response, the government agreed to install 200-megawatt Solar Power Plants, which will benefit the disposal stations by saving Rs 5 billion from their electricity bills per year.
The development of the Solar Power Plant will enable a consistent flow of power for the operation of electrical motors, which will accelerate the services of the disposal station.
All in all, the project will be highly beneficial for the province. A considerable amount of electricity will be saved, contributing to socio-economic benefits to society. Moreover, the probability of flooding will be reduced through enhanced wastewater infrastructure.
Although solar plants may be higher in cost than traditional electricity-based systems, the long-term cost-saving benefits are more significant with solar technology.
