Rawalpindi: The region’s illegal housing schemes are being strictly enforced against by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
According to sources, RDA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa presided over a meeting at which the planning branch was given instructions to visit each of these housing societies and take appropriate action.
It is pertinent to state that during the conference, topics such as illegal land conversion, subdivision, and marketing were discussed. Strict punishment was promised for those who broke the law.
Jappa instructed employees to write letters of notification to the Federal Board of Revenue, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, and other pertinent agencies, as well as to regularly monitor illegal housing complexes.
He said that such projects were not to be advertised, marketed, or developed and that anyone found in violation of the legislation would face harsh legal consequences.
A specific desk set up to assist people was also recommended as a means to learn more about housing developments on the RDA website.
Additionally, the MP&TE Directorate was requested to take rigorous action against unauthorised and illegal housing schemes, building, and encroachment, while the planning division of RDA was instructed to visit illegal housing schemes daily and demolish site offices and structures.
