President Calls for Adoption of Sustainable Building Practices in Construction Sector
Islamabad: President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged Pakistan’s housing and construction industries to use green and sustainable building techniques.
In order to preserve energy and the planet’s finite natural resources, he recommended the promotion of sustainable living and moderation in consumption. He underlined that strengthening climate-friendly and resilient infrastructure in the nation requires rethinking, redesigning, rebuilding, and repurposing materials and resources.
These remarks were made by the President during his speech at the Building Materials Exhibition 2023 opening ceremony, which was held by the Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP) Rawalpindi branch.
Architects, graduates, and others working in the building and housing industries all attended the ceremony. Dr. Alvi emphasised the significance of architecture in providing people with comfortable and attractive housing.
He advised architects to incorporate features that make buildings accessible to those with disabilities, as well as to make use of rooftop space by growing plants and vegetables there and adding solar panels to generate green and clean energy.
Additionally, he pointed out that public sector building and development projects provide a significant contribution to raising economic activity, adding liquidity to the system, and fostering the development of industry and jobs for the populace.
