PM Imran Khan Inaugurates Tunnels at Swat Motorway
Prime Minister Imran Khan has visited Swat Expressway and inaugurated three tunnels of about 80-kilometre long to reduce the travel time for commuters. PM unveiled the plaque on the occasion and inspected the three completed tunnels constructed by Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) Director General briefed the Prime Minister that the expressway has seven interchanges and three tunnels with lengths of 1,266, 271, and 324 meters length. FWO has also constructed 140 meters long Rockfall Shelter along with the installation of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for safety of commuters.
The Khyber Pukhtunkhwa government has successfully constructed Pakistan’s first provincial motorway from its own resources. The prime minister addressing the occasion said that the government is focusing on mega-development projects to generate economic and financial resources.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed accompanied the premier on the occasion.
