Over 100 Illegal Housing Societies Identified in Islamabad- Standing Interior Committee
ISLAMABAD: According to National Assembly officials, only 47 housing societies out of 109 housing schemes in the Federal Capital are legally permitted.
Details indicate that the Standing Committee on Interior of the National Assembly recently reviewed the mushroom-like spread of unapproved and illegal housing societies in several zones throughout the capital.
According to the sources, Islamabad is divided into five zones, with CDA sectors and Margalla Hills making up Zones I and II while illegal housing societies are located in the other three zones.
Furthermore, Zone IV is the most misused area of the federal capital with 77 illegal housing societies, followed by Zone II with 27 illegal housing societies and Zone V with 23 illegal projects.
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) ordered earlier this week that private housing societies obtain NOCs before running commercials on TV stations.
It is pertinent to state that another decision made by PEMRA was to limit the NOCs for ads to private home proposals that have been approved by the relevant development agencies.
According to the sources, housing societies who publish advertisements without PEMRA’s consent will face disciplinary actions.
