Government Proposes Housing Facilities To Low-Income Government Employees

The government proposed housing loans for its non-gazetted low-income employees under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP)
ISLAMABAD: The government proposed housing loans for its non-gazetted low-income employees under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) and approved lending credit to overseas Pakistanis under Kamyab Pakistan Programme (KPP).
The Prime Minister will formally launch the two schemes on the 1st of March, 2022. Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin chaired a meeting on KPP and NPHP, where the two proposals were discussed.
The finance minister requested the State Bank of Pakistan Governor Reza Baqir to include the non-gazetted low-income employees of the government in NPHP.
He further stated that housing development holds great importance to the government. They will take numerous measures to provide housing facilities to the low-income and middle-income groups.
Although the government wants to provide financial facilities to low-income government employees, financial institutions were reluctant to lend credit due to the risk of recovery of loans.
Moreover, authorities are also working towards facilitating loans to overseas Pakistanis. The finance minister also had discussions with relevant officials about potential opportunities and benefits provided to overseas Pakistanis.
The progress of KPP was shared via presentations at the meeting of the Steering Committee of KPP, which was attended by many important officials, i.e., Human Resources Development Ayub Afridi, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis, Secretaries of Finance, etc.
