ECNEC okays hydropower and infrastructure projects worth Rs362bn
ISLAMABAD: In a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Coucnil (ECNEC), the meeting approved the hydropower and infrastructure projects worth Rs362bn.
According to the details, ECNEC approved the revised cost of Gomal Zam at Rs25.9bn. The project aims to store the floodwater for the irrigation of 191,139 acres of land. Further, the project will also generate 17.4MW of electricity.
The Executive Committee also approved the revised cost of the Ghowari hydropower project located in Gilgit Baltistan at the cost of Rs16.4bn. The project will generate 30MW of electricity.
Furthermore, 168km long M-8 section of Hoshab-Awaran-Khuzdar was given a go-ahead at the cost of Rs32.2bn.
