Cement Industry shows record increase of sales in March

The cement sector showed a record increase of sales in March 2021. The significant rise in domestic consumption and exports led to the highest-ever sales growth of 44.39%.
The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) released data according to which the total cement sales in March 2021 accounts 5.37 million tons as compared to the last year sales which was 3.72 million tons.
Total cement sales including domestic and export in the current fiscal year of the first nine months (Jul-Mar) stood at 43.32 million tons, up 16.99% compared to 37 million tons in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Domestic offtake soared 18.29% to 36.18 million tons in Jul-Mar FY21 from 30.59 million tons in Jul-Mar FY20.
According to the APCMA, the cement industry is struggling hard to stay afloat due to a persistent rise in major input costs which was accompanied by troubling signs of electricity and coal prices which were sky-rocketed simultaneously.
