CDA to Work Out Hydrological Survey to Cope with Flooding
Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has made the decision to request that the General Headquarters’ (GHQ) Engineer-in-Chief (E in C) Branch carry out a complete hydrological evaluation around the federal capital in order to be ready for potential future floods or cloud burst events.
In order to conduct a full hydrological evaluation across Islamabad in zones 2, 3, 4, and 5, Member Planning and Estate requested permission from CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed on Wednesday to look into the possibilities of expanding the GHQ’s E in C Branch’s area of services.
According to the letter from the Chairman Secretariat, numerous waterways, nullahs, and streams in various parts of Islamabad experienced flood-like conditions as a result of the recent heavy rains, necessitating a thorough investigation to address any issues brought on by future floods or cloud bursts.
The letter claims that the study is necessary due to the present climatic changes and even how water channels are behaving. Based on the suggested hydrological analysis, the relevant authorities and organisations, such as CDA, ICT, and NDMA, among others, would be able to create mitigation strategies for Islamabad.
According to a CDA official, it is extremely necessary because there have never been any thorough surveys done. This survey will protect the lives and property of many citizens.
