CDA to Grant Contract for Park Road’s Upgradation
Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will shortly award the contract for renovating and widening Park Road.
Only government-run organisations were invited to submit bids, according to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority‘s 42(F) regulations, and two companies—National Logistics Cell (NLC) and Railcop—participated in the process.
They said that Railcop’s bid was higher than the NLC’s, which was for about Rs1.9 billion. The bid will be given to the CDA chairman for approval or rejection following the completion of legal requirements, according to the officials.
Furthermore, they said that the CDA will give orders to formally begin work on the project after the bid is approved.
According to CDA, the project would widen and renovate Park Road from Rawal Chowk to Tramari Chowk and is expected to be finished in six months.
They said that the 7.4km-long route has experienced traffic congestion as a result of the rapid expansion in residential and commercial building construction, including the establishment of educational institutions, along its length during the past 20 years or so.
However, a number of older residential areas, like Lakhwal, Bani Gala, Rawal Town, Shahzad Town, Tramri, and Chatta Bakhtawar, completely rely on this route. Park Enclave I, II, and III are housing developments established by the CDA.
It is pertinent to state that the road currently has two lanes that are in poor condition. According to CDA authorities, the PC-I would add one extra lane on each side to make it a three-lane artery and renovate and maintain the current lanes.
The PC-I of the aforementioned project was accepted by the CDA’s Development Working Party (DWP) in September of this year.
An official from CDA expressed anticipation that the CDA would give orders to begin the project within the next several weeks following the bid’s clearance.
