CDA & MCI to Issue Allotment Letters for Stalls in 5 Upcoming Sasta Bazaars
Islamabad: A recent meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior’s subcommittee, which is chaired by Senator Moula Bux Chandio, ordered the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) to issue allotment letters to 180 applicants for stalls in the five proposed Sasta Bazaars in the capital.
During the meeting, the Poverty Alleviation Secretary provided a progress report on the CDA’s Sasta Bazaars.
The CDA intends to put up these bazaars in Islamabad’s H-11, I-14, Margalla Town, Humak, and Tarnol areas after receiving 1,590 applications for booths, according to the specifics.
The CDA recently issued a call for bids for the construction of these bazaars, which would include 3,000 stalls altogether.
In addition, the civic agencies had stated that preference would be given to merchants with hacker passes and those whose kiosk licences had been revoked. However, within the allotted period, they got 1,590 applications.
The chair of the meeting emphasised the necessity of hastening the construction of Sasta Bazars on the five specified sites.
Notably, CDA and MCI already operate a number of weekly bazaars, including the H-9, G-6, I-9, and G-10 bazaars.
