CDA Directs FWO to Forbid Direct Access to Illegal Societies
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) engineering division has instructed the Frontier Work Organisation (FWO) to ensure that Margalla Road near D-12 is built in accordance with the approved drawing released by the civic organisation. This was done to prevent access to unauthorised housing societies.
The CDA engineering wing requested that the FWO build the road along D-12/3 in accordance with the original drawing and design. According to the CDA’s project drawings that are currently available, any access or crossing structures to illegal housing societies are not permitted.
The letter stated that any modifications should be immediately put back into place according to the issued design and that the actual road profile at the reach be strictly adhered to.
According to the 1992 zoning regulations, housing societies and new homes are not permitted within the boundaries of Zone III, which includes the area to the north of D-12/3 where some people want to have direct access. Furthermore, two of them are located in the area north of D-12 where the operators sought access from Margalla Road.
Margalla Road is currently being built from G.T. Road to D-12, and nearly 80% of the work, including carpeting, has been completed thus far. The remaining work will be finished in a few months, according to sources.
