All You Need to Know About Ancient Egyptian Architecture
Ancient Egyptian history is a source of excitement for many, and we have specifically picked out some of their architectural wonders as their history remains forever. Egypt’s well-known architecture has many of the most-visited tourist sites in the world.
1. Ancient Egypt Art
Ancient Egyptian Art is famous for its concepts and creations. It’s the way Egyptians used to communicate with each other. They used different types of symbols which are called Pharaonic symbols. Egyptian art emphasized three basic elements – engraving, sculpture, and painting – which were carved using flint and cooper tools. Archeologists still are finding out what some of the Egyptians’ art means as their meaning is yet to be discovered.
2. Temple of Edfu
Temple of Edfu is the second largest temple in Egypt. It is also known as the Temple of Horus which means falcon-headed God and is one of the oldest buildings in Egypt. The Temple of Edfu is an ancient Egyptian temple located on the west bank of the Nile in the city of Edfu. The materials used to build the temple were sun-baked mud brick and stone. It is also one of the most popular tourist sites.
3. Deir el-Bahri Temple
The Deir el-Bahri Temple is one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt and probably the world. The three lovely terraces of the structure were built within a steep half-circle of cliffs on the west bank of the Nile River, guarding the entrance to the great Valley of the Kings. This temple was built almost 500 years ago but still looks like it was built yesterday.
4. The Pyramid of Khafre
The Pyramid of Khafre is the second tallest Egyptian Pyramid of Giza. Its uniqueness differentiates it from other Pyramids. It has the tomb of Fourth-Dynasty pharaoh Khafre, who ruled from c. 2558 to 2532 BC. The formations that made the building structure so strong is covered by limestone that lived millions of years ago. The temple is one of the locations that attract tourism in Egypt and it’s a must-see site.
