Pakistan’s Oil import Bill Reaches A New High Of $20 Billion
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan’s petroleum group imports increased by 99.14 percent to $19.679 billion in July-May 2021-22, up from $9.882 billion in the same period the previous fiscal year (PBS).
As per Bureau’s imports and exports data, petroleum group imports increased by 19% in May 2022 to $2.645 billion, up from $2.223 billion in April 2022, and up by 123 percent year on year to $1.184 billion in the same month previous year.
The country’s total imports during July-May (2021-22) were $72.297 billion, up from $50.028 billion during the same period last year, representing a 44.51 percent rise (PBS).
Petroleum products (Rs. 288,039 million), natural gas liquified (Rs. 114,160 million), petroleum crude (Rs. 105,310 million), palm oil (Rs. 60,163 million), plastic materials (Rs. 46,553 million), iron and steel (Rs. 46,223 million), raw cotton (Rs. 46,154 million), motor cars (ckd/skd), Rs. 30,943 million), electrical machinery & apparatus (R (Rs. 26,825 million).
