Green Building Codes To Be Made Mandatory For Housing Societies
Islamabad: To promote eco-friendly housing societies nationwide, the climate-change ministry encourages provincial governments to develop green building codes.
The provincial governments are expected to make it essential for housing societies to have green spaces on at least thirty percent of their land.
An official mentioned that eco-friendly homes are renovated and built with environmentally sound and energy-efficient materials.
He added that the strategy of making green building codes would enhance the overall tree cover and attain the desired results under the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme.
It is known that green building refers to increasing energy efficiency and improving indoor environment quality by alleviating waste and carbon footprint.
The Special Assistant to PM Pakistan, Malik Amin Aslam, stated that the significant factors contributing to the increasing environmental pollution are the growing construction activities.
Expressing his views on this matter, he said that the best international practices would be taken to save the environment from further degradation, especially in urban areas of Pakistan.
